Itinerary
Day01Arrival in Baku
Meet at Athens Eleftherios Venizelos airport for the direct flight at 23:10. Early-morning arrival in Baku, where our Greek-speaking guide welcomes us and takes us to the hotel. Check-in and rest after the journey. Overnight in Baku.
Day02Baku city tour
After breakfast we tour the historic Old City of Baku, a UNESCO site. We wander its picturesque lanes and see iconic monuments such as the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, the Maiden Tower, the Gosha Gala Gate, the Museum of Miniature Books and the Gothic-style Ismailiyya Palace, with a stop in the green Philharmonic Gardens.
A panoramic tour of the modern city follows, with a visit to Highland Park for an impressive view of the city and the Bay of Baku.We see the spectacular Flame Towers up close and ride the funicular.
We visit the Carpet Museum and stroll along Baku's beautiful seafront boulevard.
At midday we stop on lively Nizami Street and at Fountain Square. We then visit the architectural gem of the Heydar Aliyev Center and the imposing Heydar Mosque.
In the evening we enjoy dinner at a traditional restaurant, where food meets culture in a setting full of history and atmosphere. Return to the hotel and overnight.Day03Excursion to Gobustan and the Absheron Peninsula
In the morning we set off on an excursion into nature and history. Our first stop is Gobustan National Park, one of Azerbaijan's most important archaeological sites. It was declared a national historic monument in 1966 to protect its rock art, mud volcanoes and the resonant "Gaval Dash" stones, and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007, with impressive carvings of prehistoric people, hunting scenes and rituals, and animals, even sea creatures such as dolphins and whales that no longer live in the Caspian.
In the afternoon we visit the Bibi-Heybat Mosque, the Zoroastrian fire temple of Ateshgah and the burning mountain of Yanar Dag, where fire burns endlessly on the ground.
Return and overnight at our hotel in Baku.Day04Shopping and departure
After breakfast we start the day at the local Yashil and Sharg bazaars, discovering local produce, spices, sweets and souvenirs.
At midday there is free time for lunch at a restaurant of your choice.
We then visit modern shopping centres such as Crescent Mall or Deniz Mall for last purchases and relaxation.
In the afternoon we return to the hotel to rest.Day05Transfer to the airport and return flight
Shortly after midnight, transfer to the airport for the return flight. Arrival in Athens full of wonderful memories and experiences.
